Yi xing tea pots

Wan Ling Tea House stocks a growing range of Zi Sha (purple sand) tea pots. Sometimes hard to find in the UK and Europe, the Yi Xing tea pot is the perfect method to get the best from your chosen tea leaves and will become a close friend over the years as you enjoy your favourite teas.

You may be wondering what is so special about Yi Xing and its purple sand clays. Unlike many types of clay, Zi Sha does not contain lead, this means that food and drink containers like tea pots do not require a glaze. Such a natural characteristic brings many benefits in how the clay can used as well application of the final products. One of the most important aspects of the Zi Sha tea pot is that it is slightly porous and therefore slowly absorbs tea during each preparation, bringing about a marked change in it's colour, radiating from regular use. There is much more information about this rare material and the tea pots produced from it on our International site's Yi Xing tea pot pages.

Wan Ling travels to Yi Xing in JiangSu province to select zi sha tea pots and to meet the artisans that have spent their lives honing their skills. Please take a moment to view our range of tea pots. If you have a special request please let us know, we are more than happy to hunt down the tea pot of your dreams.
